Weekly homework for 12/2-12/5

Welcome to the second term of 4th grade at City View. Hope that each of you had a wonderful break and that you're ready to get rolling!

This term in Expedition, we'll be focusing on Colonial America and the Westward Expansion.

In Literacy Workshop, we'll be working a lot with our writing as our writing assessments are in February.

In Math, we'll be delving more into connections, patterns, and number sense/relationships.

I'm organizing fieldwork and having guests in our class now that our crew is more gelled.

This week our optional homework is: Big Word letters a e i i o g n r s t t v. I'll send home a graphic organizer to make this easier for the whole family. :) Additionally, weekly spelling packets will be sent home to support students for the test on Friday. Daily Language Review will also be copied and sent home today. It, like all homework, is due on Friday.

Homework that I do not consider optional is: reading for 20 minutes per night as well as practicing math facts for 10 minutes. Be creative. At the mall? Why not walk and talk math? (They'll love it....kidding.) Also, if each family would consider donating an ornament for the class tree, that would be wonderful. As we're talking and writing about holiday traditions and experiences this week, I'd enjoy having an ornament (see salt clay recipes online) representing each family. I'll collect these by Friday and will decorate the tree at that time.

Thanks for your support. Having parents volunteer is an invaluable resource to me. Hope you have a great week!

Warmly,
Renée
